Our Whitehaven Coffee Shop
Say Hello Next Time You're in Town
We opened our Whitehaven coffee shop because the town deserved somewhere to slow down for ten minutes. Dan runs the bar most mornings, and between us we’ve learned that people come back for two things: a drink made the same way every time, and someone who remembers how they take it. That’s the whole idea, and we’ve not needed to complicate it since.
We’re independent and family-run, which shows up in small ways — we buy our beans from a small roaster in Cumbria rather than whoever’s cheapest, we make everything fresh on site, and we’ve stayed one shop rather than chasing a second. Lowther Street suited us because it’s where people actually walk. The harbour’s five minutes one way, the town centre offices are five minutes the other, and we sit in the middle of it.
Sit In Coffee
Grab a table, put your phone face down, and take twenty minutes. We’ve kept the room warm and a bit rustic without it feeling like a theme pub — good light, proper seats, and nobody hovering to clear your cup the second you finish. Regulars tend to settle in for longer than they planned.
Takeaway Coffee
On the walk to work, on the school run, or heading down to the harbour — tell us what you want at the counter and you’ll have it in a couple of minutes. Same beans, same care, just in a cup you can carry.
Who You'll Meet Behind the Counter
There aren’t many of us. Dan’s usually on the bar from opening, and the rest of the team cover the middle of the day and the weekends. Everyone here has been trained on the machine properly rather than shown it once, because a flat white shouldn’t depend on who’s working. What that adds up to is a counter where you’re served by a person who knows the coffee, knows the regulars, and will tell you straight if the single origin isn’t for you.
